Sometimes we have to stand up on our soapboxes

Slap herWhere to start with this rant?

Possibly by just saying what it is? Yeh, that’ll do. I’m absolutely fed-up with the way that the media (TV and film mainly) that tell us that being popular is all that we should look for in life. If we’re not popular we wont be happy.

People who aren’t popular and have a large amount of friends are always portrayed as people that are ugly and not happy in their life. The ’sad’ people also will always jump at the chance to be accepted into the ‘popular’ crowd.

It seems to give over the image that if you aren’t cool then you can’t be truly happy, even if you believe you are.

It makes me sick. I wouldn’t jump at the chance to have loads of these fickle people bugging me all day. I actually enjoy socialising with the people I want to. They’re not popular or physically beautiful. But they’re some of the best friends you could ask for. I’m happy with my life. I’m not waiting for that special popular girl to come along, befriend me and then make everyone like me. It’s just not something I want and not something I’d like if it did happen! :(
Maybe if people weren’t force fed that if you’re not popular then you’re not happy maybe peopple wouldn’t become so depressed about not fitting in.

*sigh*

I’ve had one hell of a week.
