We’ll do it all, everything.. On our own.

We don’t need anything or anyone

So, five songs for you to think about getting? Well, I haven’t listened to a lot of new music this week but I’ve spent a lot of time going through my extensive collection looking for something different to play on the bus. So, there’s a bit of a mixture in here today. As ever, check my last.fm profile to find out what my most listened to songs are and also sign up because the Neighbour’s Radio function is an excellent way to hear new songs that have been chosen based on the music you play. Although, how they ever worked out that I would like that new Eminem song “Smack That” is beyond my little mind. Glitch in the Matrix? ;)

Rilo Kiley - Portions for Foxes (Video)
And the talking leads to touching
And the touching leads to sex
And then there is no mystery left

I guess the song typifies a lot of relationships where the girl knows that the boy is bad for her, but when she’s lonely she just can’t help calling him and once she’s talking well it leads to nothing being left. I particuarly love the line I know I’m alone if I’m with or without you. The song also has really funky guitar riffs if you listen real loud on headphones, not that I would ever try to damage my hearing ;) Plus, lead singer Jenny has a nice voice. The version on the video is not as good as the single version, so get that.

Bernard Fanning - Wish you well (Video)
Up so early feel so bright
Didn’t get much sleep last night
Freight train rattled through my head

Not entirely sure where I found this song. I’ve a feeling it was something to do with an American TV series, it has that kinda OC/One Tree Hill feeling *shrug* I suppose it’s just a nice mellow “broken up” song. I just want to wish you well. Of course, that’s bollocks, no one wants to wish them well, they want them to have no life and miss them like crazy. Or is that just me…

The Fray - Without Reason
I do it on a whim, with no motivation
Following this line and I don’t know why,
But I’ve learned to capture time; it’s my redirection
I don’t want to live this life

So, it seems that The Fray have arrived in England. Or at least they’re being heavily played on certain Radio One shows. This song has a Remy Zero-esque sound about it and, again, has a really nice intro. I’m definitely into intros at the moment.

The Killers - Bones (Video)
Don’t you wanna swim with me?
Don’t you wanna feel my skin on your skin?
It’s only natural

Apparently they are arrogant, or at least apparently the lead singer Brandon is. But I don’t care, I like their songs. This song is purely about wanting to be with a girl. Bones on bones and skin on skin. Hey, it’s only natural.

The Living End - Roll on (Video)
We’ll protest in peace keep the whole thing quiet
The last thing needed is a wage-fuelled riot
‘Cos they don’t really care

This song just makes me want to join a union and strike about poor pay and just being a number to the bosses. Excellent guitar part in the middle too. I like the fact that the song pretty much sums it up by saying you’ll return to work tomorrow and do it all again. Because, essentially, nothing ever changes.

So there you have people. Spent too much time with the houseys this week so not much time to watch Jericho, so I’m only up to episode 8, but it’s still going really good. And YAY they kissed :D

Would I commit suicide if I quoted Robbie Williams?
