Celebrities that want sympathy…

musicSo, here is this week’s five fantastic songs. I’ve been plagued by Internet and computer problems *again* this week, so hopefully these should be fixed at some point in the coming week. I apologise if I’ve not been on line much, or if I suddenly went off line. It’s all this blasted broken-fan-broken-OS computer’s fault. And Sky’s. Stupid AD-fucking-SL.

The Wallflowers - Sleepwalker (Video)
Maybe I could be the one they adore
That could be my reputation
It’s where I’m from that lets them think I’m a whore
I’m an educated virgin

So, here’s a retro track for you. Early 00’s or late 90’s this single was in the 50p bin at the local independent record shop. Good song.. Nobody in the SM page seems to know what it’s about but I’d say it’s sort of about Love and not being able to be in it because you’re just this celeb (hence all the posters, cars, women in the video) who can’t really get personal with anyone. I dunno. Try also One Headlight.

Eskimo Joe - Black Fingernails, Red Wine (Video)
The argument over God continues
The argument over Love continues
All of us stand and point our fingers (at the ground)

A good rocky song. Score highly in the Triple J Hot 100 of 2006 and that’s where I picked it up from. Apart from that I know very little of them. The beginning sounds very familiar, or is that just me? Anyways, red wine.. Yum.

John Mayer - Waiting on the world to change (Video)
When you trust your television
What you get is what you got
‘Cause when they own the information
Oh, they can bend it all they want

One of the many anti-war/America type songs that sprung up in the past few years. But I do like Mayer’s voice. His albums are so nice to just listen to when you’re chilling out.

The Connells - 74/75 (Video)
It’s not easy, nothing to say cos it’s already said
It’s never easy
When I look on your eyes then I find that I’ll do fine
When I look on your eyes then I’ll do better

Beautiful song from the early 90’s. Always reminds me of when I started to appreciate good music as opposed to the crap they throw at us. Considered one hit wonders, but they had some other amazing songs. The video is pretty funky too. And until I had a look on YouTube I didn’t realise how many people had done a version of it. God bless YouTube, even if some are awful, although when he gets to the singing it’s an amazing transformation.

PFR - We Can Work It Out
life is very short and there’s no time
for fussing and fighting, my friend
i have always thought that it’s a crime
so i will ask you once again

Very rare is it to find a cover version that is better than the original. And I would probably get killed if it got leaked that I thought a cover of a Beatles song was better, being where I live and all. I can’t find a video for it, I think it was recorded on a tribute album, but if you can find it, it’s good.

That’s it. I’m knackered and full of food.

It rocks living with a Chinese girl

Ah, of course. Did I recommend them to you or did you get them by other means?

It dates back to visiting Rome with my nephew and niece (they were singing it all the time) so that was before we met I think. About 7 years ago, maybe 8.
