…is press coverage
So, two weeks Missing in Action and finally something resembling a post! Sorry for that I have been mega busy with work and other stuffs that have just taken up pretty much all of my time. Things that are new are I have a new laptop, I’m spending the weekend in Woking with Crishna, my car passed it’s MOT and that’s about it. Things that have not changed are pretty much everything else… So, to get the blog posts rolling again I should start with some music that I think you might like. Or at least I like.
Panic! at the Disco - Build God, then we’ll talk (Official “banned” video - School Vid)
Accessorizing with a rosary tucked inside her lingerie
She’s getting a job at the firm come Monday.
The Mrs. will stay with the cheating attorney
Moonlighting aside, she really needs his money
Okay, so I’ll admit that I like Panic! at the Disco. I believe this makes me some sort of substandard person as everyone seems to slate them. But after listening to their album I find two things. Firstly I love how different it sounds from most emo stuff, you can tell when you’re listening to them because they don’t have the normal formula for the song and secondly I love how the whole album flows together one track after another, almost building a story. Also, after reading the Wikipedia page there is tons more connections and references than I realised! This song is, apparently, about a prostitute and the night she gets caught in the seedy motel. The video includes the world’s most annoying, yet strangely cute, college girl. Anyways.
The Connells - Over There (Video)
And I hope to try
To answer those who criticize you
Lead the sheep in their sleep
To slaughter
So, this is a very old song and most people I’ve made listen to it have said they hate it. But along with PFR’s them which is another society-sucks-slow burning-song I like it. I love how the music is very “army”, patriotic and you could almost imagine it being in an advert for recruiting and yet the words, well… it contains one of my favourite lyrics of all time “lead the sheep in their sleep to slaughter.
Marcy Playground - Sex & Chocolate (Video)
Downtown by myself
And I had too much caffeine
And I was thinking ’bout myself
And then there she was
To quote Song Meanings “basically John Wozniak the lead singer had just finished having sex with his girlfriend, and they were having a post cotial cigarette when the girlfriend’s roommate walked in and said ‘Ooh, smells like sex and candy in here.’ And so he made a song based on those words. A weird song with a weird story.” Enough said, really.
Fastball - You’re an ocean (A “smallville” video)
Can you make it easier for me to understand?
How you’re holding my heart.
In your trembling hands.
Eyes that rise to meet me halfway up among the stars.
You may be from Venus, but I’m definitely not from Mars.
Still, sort of on the trip down Fastball memory lane I’ve been playing You’re an Ocean over and over and over and by next week I’ll hate it. So, this song is really what got me into them. It has a lovely piano at the beginning which you’ll know sells me on a song straight away.
Tom Wilson - The Question Song (Video)
What was Michael J Fox like? He’s nice.
What was Michael J Fox like? Nice Guy
Tom Wilson, Biff from Back to the Future, is now a stand up comic and whenever he’s seen in public he gets asked the same questions. Here he hopes to answer them for anyone that may meet him in the future. In a nice song, too!
And that’s all you’re going to get from me today, so praise the Lord.
I’m not the messiah
B
