Get your geek on…

nerdSo, I’ve always admitted I’m a geek and these days it’s kinda almost fashionable now to be, well, geeky. Apparently not to be nerdy, as nerdy is geeky but wrongly thinking that you’re cool (!) Or something along them lines. And, apparently, one of the things that can distinguish you from being nerdy and geeky is the ability to take the piss out of yourself or to enjoy parodies of exaggerated versions of yourself. Which I do… Anyways, that was a long introduction to basically a bit of a different take of my (unbelievably not) weekly five songs… Main reason is that I’ve just not listened to much in the past few weeks that has got me all excited and secondly I’ve just been watching way too many videos on Google Video ;) So I’ve slipped a few technically non-songs in.

So, if you’ve never seen these before then give them a click because they’re worth it…

PC vs Mac

One of the many, many, many spoofs of the PC vs Mac adverts that Apple put out over the past few years. The guy’s anger in this one just makes me laugh and the defeatist statement at the end just sums up the like of the geek. Can’t live with it, or without it. Actually, isn’t that the motto about life!?

PC vs Mac - a rap song
Again, another spoof of the Mac vs PC debate. Love the fact it manages to get a good ol’ modem negotiation sound in there. And dancing geeks is always worth a click.

Weird Al - White & Nerdy (Video)
My rims never spin, to the contrary
You’ll find that they’re quite stationary
All of my action figures are cherry
Steven Hawking’s in my library

And making a segway from nerdy to music it’s Weird Al’s White & Nerdy. Heck, it even has a Segway in the video. I can unashamedly say that I can relate to a few of the things he mentions ;) Although I’m no master at D’n'D or a comic book collector.

Hedley - On My Own (Video)
On my own
And living in a world alone
Gets better every day
Cause I don’t have to say
And now your killin’ me

This Canadian pop-rock act are in some way linked to Canadian Idol, or at least their lead singer is/was. But I’ve not really read into it. I like this song. It was played a lot on Sky.fm and other online stations when I was at Crishna’s a few weeks back. So it’s all good.

Yellowcard - Rough Draft (Videog)
and if its healthier to leave you be
may a sickness come and set me free
kill me while i still believe that you were meant for me

Again, another song heard via sky.fm and the wonders that are Internet Radio (PLEASE DON’T KILL IT SoundExchange!!) it’s nice, acoustic and calm. I’ve no idea what the slideshow on the video is about but my guessing is it was the only pictures that the guy had. Anyways, it’s not about the video, it’s about the song. Enjoy.

Till next time my non-branded prawn cocktail shells… Skips!

i’ll be gone before you even knew I was there

Yes, it’s a good album. I’m not a fan of *all* their songs. But I do like a lot.

Again, glad to be of service :)
