This is an addiction, girl…

…let’s give in to it.

So the past week or so has been, well, interesting to say the least. Last Wednesday I went to Manchester Airport to pick up TT’s husband. I followed that by going out to dinner with them to Taipan. Which has probably got to of been the most surreal thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’m sitting trying my best to look like I can actually eat anything with chop sticks and failing miserably all the time staring at the wife of the guy sat next to me. Since then it’s been a mixture of trying not to think about it and stealing quick moments alone when we can. I don’t think I’ve offered to go to the “supermarket” so many times in a week. I’m counting down the days till he returns (17) and, oddly, I think she is too. I’ve never seen such a passionless marriage out. I don’t care if I’d traveled half way round the world. I wouldn’t want to be spending time with my wife’s house mate when I got back. Although, it’s all good for me, I guess? We’ve been out for another meal since then and I don’t think it gets any less freaky as time goes by. It gets more freaky when you’re helping him set up his wireless and his wife is playing with your back, though. How is it that something that started out as just a bit of harmless (!) fun can turn into something so scary. He’s bigger than me and I’m sure he’d kick my ass, or deep fry my balls or something equally Chinese ;)

Anyways… I’ve been using many, many excuses to stay at work the past week so that I don’t have to come back and get in the way, I’ve also decided to take the book department under my wing as it were. It lost it’s book manager a few weeks back after she went rifling through people’s personal emails and whilst we thought the current books team would be sufficient it seems that there’s just not enough man and woman hours being thrown at it. So, I’ve become head books bitch and it gave me a new reason to stay at work.. We had a huge move round of the books landside last week and I did it one night after work. I quite liked this book…

Not that I have read it or anything.

In other news.

* Work : No closer to getting a manager, however we had the floating sales manager return so at least our numbers are back up to 3. Also, the area manager is now moving to a head office role to be replaced by a High St area manager which should be interesting. The last High St manager we had lasted three months after trying to convince us that we could be like John Lewis’ in terms of store standards. Show me the 2,000 sq foot John Lewis’ that has over 30,000 people trapse into it every week and I’ll gladly make it happen! Of course, having 30 staff to straighten the £400 sofa after everyone gets off it doesn’t hurt, either ;)

* TV : Writer’s strike could be over as soon as the end of this week! Wooyay! Big Bang Theory has been signed up for a second series. Lost was AWESOME. Daily Show and Colbert Report have also both restarted without writers (and seem to be as, or even more, funny) so TV rocketh my socketh.

* Pancake Day : Yum, yum! Had some Chinese style ones…
