Things that really piss me off when driving.

Indicator usage

For BMW drivers, indicators are the orange lights on the side of your car. They are meant to be used to tell other drivers you are turning a corner/pulling out to overtake/pulling back in/stopping etc. They aren’t optional, they aren’t hard to operate either. You want to go left? Push down on the stick. Go right? Push up on the stick. (*) Simple, yes?

When approaching a rounabout and you want to take the exit that is on the right, get in the right lane, indicate right. ONE exit before the exit you want indicate left so that those people waiting know that you are leaving the roundabout and then everyone can get on their merry little ways. Do not under any circumstance indicate right as you are leaving an island!

Blinding light

Why do boy racers, or girl racers in fact, feel that even on a nice clear night they have to use their “driving lights” (or front fog lights)? It just blinds everyone else on the road and makes you look like a fuckwit.

Roundabout lanes

When roundabouts have marked lanes they are there for a pretty good reason, use them.

Middle lane on a motorway.

The middle lane of the motorway, or if you’re on the M25 any other lane that’s not the left one. I really cannot abide people who join a motorway and sit in the middle lane for miles on end if they’re not overtaking someone. Sitting in the middle lane causes traffic jams as cars have to squeeze by one one single right hand lane while you’re theoretically occupying two lanes (no one can overtake on the inside.) Maybe it’s because you’re unable to change lanes properly because you’re some sort of retard. I don’t know, but it pisses me off.

Driving slow at 5am

Yes, I understand the speed limit does actually apply at 3am, 5am, whenever but it still annoys me those that just sit dead on 30 and not let me by, blocking me or whatever it is they want to do. I’ve been up 30 minutes and want to be at work now. I set out for work about 10 minutes after I should due to eating breakfast so I need to get there quick!

BMWs

In general, the most un-courteous people on the road. Tail gaters, non-indicator users and general pains. VW Golfs are also earning this reputation. Especially silver and black ones.

Flashing lights because I’m obeying the limit

I have THREE points on my license. I am not in the business of collecting them. Three is plenty enough. If you want to go faster than the speed limit, fine. But no need to flash me about it. Get past in a dangerous fashion and carry on.

Mobile phone users

I love my mobile phone as much as the next person. But I also love my life and I don’t want to go to jail for accidently SMASHING INTO SOMEONE. Stop thinking you can concentrate on the road as well as that “all important call.” Many hundreds before you have proven it’s not true.

Braking hard for speed cameras even though under the limit.

It’s more dangerous than travelling over the speed limit. Especially for all the poor souls that suddenly have to whack on their breaks behind you and cause a 15 car pile up
