Creating a new video revolution…

Miro, the open source, open access, open distribution and pretty much anything else open titled has just released it’s, hopefully, penultimate version before the milestone 1.0 release. So, along with Preview Release 3 they’ve also gone head to head with the media’s current star pupil, Joost.
For those that don’t know, Joost is an on-demand, streaming [...]

iBrick

So, as you guys may of noticed a few months ago Apple released, with as little fanfare as possible, a phone. It was named in the same vein as nearly all their other products. The iPhone.
When it was released many people wrote many, many, many, many reviews of the phone and most level headed people [...]

I want a hoverboard…

Oh, how I love Marty McFly.

’nuff said.
Thank the lord for ITV2 running old movies all the time. It’d be nice if they ran all three of the movies instead of just the second one all the time. But I guess that’s why I have the box set? And just in case anyone didn’t know. Favourite [...]

The ultimate “convergence” device…

As Steve Litchfield from AllAboutSymbian.com constantly tells us. The n95 is a convergence device, perhaps the ultimate in this. One guy does it the old fashioned way, thanks to flickr!

Anyways, off to Crishna’s for the weekend.

I can see you’ve got a real taste for that champagne…

…but it’s all gone
I’m a gadget slut, I know. But today I went to see the nice people at phones4u and I managed to twist their arm into letting me drop my contract 8 months early and get a N95 on Vodafone. So it’s so long 3 and welcome back to the big red speech [...]

Aware of the uproar but numb to the touch

So, always one to follow orders (!) I’m going to go to LugRadio live this year. Just got to decide whether to be there both days and stay in a “official LRL” hotel or to just go for the one day and come back at the end of the day.
Anyways… sorry for the lack of [...]

Web 2.0 in “plain English”

Now, I don’t need these videos and I’m not suggesting anyone that reads the site will need them as I’m guessing that most people know how to use a Wiki and RSS. But I just think they are quite cool how they are done.. Anyways, watch!
Wiki-ing in Plain English

RSS in Plain English

My only annoyance with [...]

This is no Jihad…

Today.. it’s all about the software.
Democracy Player
Tag : The free and open source internet TV platform
So, Democracy Player is a amalgamation of Channel Guide, staight http downloader, BitTorrent Client, File organiser and Video Player all rolled into one Python application. From what I can tell it borrows from VLC, Mozilla’s Gecko and Xine to help [...]

Jumping on the “get my ass sued” bandwagon…

Bloggers “crossed the line” when they posted a software key that could break the encryption on some HD-DVDs, the AACS copy protection body has said.

And on a completely unrelated note, I found this string of numbers to be quite cool looking, don’t you think?

Bit by the bug…

So, I’ve berrated twitter to many people in the past for it being a completely useless and time wasting Web 2.0 application. So, obviously, that now means I’ve signed up and am using it semi-sporadicly. So what is it? Well from their website…

Twitter is a community of friends and strangers from around the world sending [...]

From Fiesty to Gutsy, from a Fawn to a Gibbon..

It’s all in the name of harmony
So, the South African space lord has spoken and the codename for the next release of Ubuntu is going to be Gutsy Gibbon…

The Gibbon won the G-race to be our engineering mascot for this next
release, but it was a close run. We very much wanted to honour the
tremendous contributions [...]

World of Warcraft is a feeling… Who needs a social life?

So, I’m excited. The first episode of Series 2 of Pure Pwnage is released on April 14th and they’ve just released the DVD of the first season and apparently it’s surpassed the 3 million viewer mark so that’s pretty impressive.
Also, Lost and Jericho have just downloaded so that’s some excellent TV for watching tomorrow night. [...]

An internet connected life…

So, I love that I’m now back online. It’s fantastic this Internet thing. It has almost everything I need to live my life. I can get movies and TV, including TV that people in my own country have never even seen or heard of yet! I can get all the music I like and not [...]

How to upgrade the firmware on a Nokia n73

So, like me, you bought the shiny new Nokia n73 when it was released middle of last year and was astounded by it’s sexy look, funky camera and loved the fact that it was running on the Symbian OS. Third edition, in fact But the one thing that really got you, was the [...]

A revolution ready to pounce

Up and out of the house!
So, I’m always up for something technological that makes my life easier. And along came OpenID.
OpenID is a decentralized digital identity system, in which any user’s online identity is given by URL (such as for a blog or a home page) or an XRI in the latest version, and can [...]
